Greensun Encourages Green Thanksgiving Harvest Fun by greensunventures

A Fun Thanksgiving Turkey craft made from recycled materials from the Recycle Guys.

What you’ll need:

  • Brown paper grocery bag
  • Packaging (that you normally throw in the trash can) for chips, cookies, etc.
  • The more colorful the better!
  • Something round for eyes! (Old buttons, cut out paper in magazines, etc.)
  • 2 twigs for feet
  • Newspaper to stuff your turkey
  • Scissors
  • Glue

What to do:

  1. Use your newspaper to stuff the grocery bag – add as much or little as you like! Make sure to glue the bottom shut.
  2. Cut the package labels into long cylinder shapes for feathers. Glue along back edge of paper bag. Make sure the pretty labels show in the front.
  3. Glue your button or paper cutout eyes to the front of the bag.
  4. Cut another package label in a big triangle. Fold it in half and glue it below the eyes for the turkey’s beak.
  5. Attach the twig feet to the bottom edge of the back of the grocery bag.
  6. ENJOY!

 Have a Green Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it’s a great time of year to remember what we are thankful for. It’s not just about yummy turkey and tasty pumpkin pie. This year commit to thanking the environment with these green tips!

  1. Help put all the cans, bottles, paper and recyclable containers into the recycle bin. According to the Use Less Stuff Report, Americans throw away 25 percent more trash during between Thanksgiving and New Year’s than any other time of the year. Help cut down the amount of trash thrown out by recycling what you can!
  2. Instead of throwing away leftover food – make a compost pile.A compost pile is a mixture of organic substances used for fertilizing soil. You can continue composting every day- not just during the holidays and composting is a fun and easy way to help your garden.
