Greensun Partners with B & B Feed & Seed for Victory Garden Project by greensunventures

Greensun partnered with B & B Feed & Seed, locally owned and operated by Karla Kendrick.  B & B is located at 833 Spring Creek Road, Thomaston, Georgia, telephone (706)647-3615.

Carla Kendrick generously gave seeds that are top producers in Georgia for the victory garden project. The community garden is located at Barnesville Street Community Church in Thomaston, Georgia. 

Ernie Williams, a garden expert on staff with B & B, designed the vegetables that would be best suited in Georgia to plant in the 6 raised terraced beds onsite. His expertise as a gardener is valuable to the success of the project. 

The first bed will be 3 rows of squash -Crookneck, Black Beauty Zucchini and Straightneck. With a row of green spring onions.

The second bed will be 2 rows of  Clemson Spineless Okra and 2  rows of Blue Lake bush Green Beans. blue20lake20bush20bean2

The third bed will be 3  rows of varieties of tomatoes. Suggested were Big Boy, Celebrity and Rutger.rutgers

The fourth bed will be lima beans. Suggested varieties were 2 rows of Fordhook and 2 rows of a purple lima called Jackson Wonder.

The fifth bed will be a row of eggplant and 3 rows of a variety of peppers -red, yellow and green in addition to sweet banana peppers.

The sixth bed will be 2 rows of  black eyed peas- Pink Eye purple hull.

There will be two hills of melons. The watermelons are Crimson Sweet

crimson-sweetand the canteloupes are Hale’s Best.hale

The tomatoes, eggplant and peppers are plants that are best suited to be planted after April 15th for our climate.  The seeds can be planted as soon as the soil is ready in late March.

This will be an organic garden.
